Dear Making Memories Volunteer,

Believe it or not, it is that time of year again when Making Memories Breast Cancer Foundation returns to Orlando, FL for their Annual "Brides Against Breast Cancer" charity wedding gown sale. Proceeds from this TWO-DAY event enables Making Memories to grant wishes and memory-making events to women and men who have been diagnosed with terminal breast cancer.

I am writing to you today because you were either a volunteer during our 2003 event or have written asking to be contacted when we return to your area. You may also have made a donation of your wedding gown. Whatever your participation with Making Memories has been in the past, we want you to know we greatly appreciate you and that we couldn't make all the wonderful wishes come true without you.

We are in need of volunteers for our Orlando "Brides Against Breast Cancer" event on Friday and Saturday, June 18th & 19th, 2004 at the Hyatt Regency Orlando Airport Hotel, 9300 Airport Boulevard, in Orlando. The hours of our actual event are from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm on Friday, June 18, 2004 and from 10:00 until 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 19, 2004. However, it takes almost two hours to tear-down and repack the trailer - so please consider the Saturday end time as 8 pm.

We are in need of volunteers for several different aspects of this event.

1. SET-UP FOR THIS EVENT will be at 5 pm on Thursday, June 17, 2004. We need all the volunteers we can find to help in this set-up. If we have at least 5 volunteers we can finish in 3 hours.Ladies, if you have a special man in your life who would like to help..please bring him along.

2 . We need up to 20 volunteers between the hours of 9:30 am and 8:00 pm on Friday, June 18, 2004 and from 9:30 until 6:30 on Saturday, June 19, 2004 to assist the brides in trying on and choosing the perfect gown for their wedding. This includes help in returning gowns to their correct size racks once they have been tried on and not selected. Depending upon how busy we are and the number of brides trying on gowns at one time, you may be helping several girls at any given moment with everything from zipping their gowns to showing them a veil you think would go perfect with that dress. It is soooooo much fun and you will make many new friends!

3. Finally, we need volunteers who can stay to help us tear down and repack the gowns following the event on Saturday afternoon. Tear down generally takes about 1 ½ hours and we are always short of volunteers to help pack up veils, etc. If you can stay for tear-down, we will greatly appreciate it. We should be packed up and ready to leave by 7:30 pm if we have enough volunteers helping in the reload.

Be sure to wear comfortable shoes......and I will provide you with a Making Memories Tee-shirt to identify you as a volunteer. It will be a lot of fun! If you have a friend you would like to invite to come along and help, that would be great!

Please let me know the hours you would like to help sell gowns or for setting up or tearing down! I look forward to meeting you! Be sure to visit our website at www.makingmemories.org and for a complete list of upcoming events, click on "Brides Against Breast Cancer".

Sincerely,
Fran Hansen

P.S. Since I am not certain of which ballroom we will be in for this event, just ask at the front desk when you arrive and they will be able to direct you to where we will be.

Men are always needed during set-up and tear down and in assisting in the return of gowns to their racks during an event. High school students in need of volunteer hours are encouraged to contact fran@makingmemories.org for additional information.
